San Juan, Capistrano Mission was founded in 1775 by Father Fermin Lasuen and was named for Saint John of Capistrano, Italy. The fathers returned to San Diego 8 days later because of an attack there and they buried the bells before leaving to keep them safe, returning the following year to refound the mission.

Just gorgeous, Terry. #1286535R. J. Laudenbacher July 11, 2010
Love the purple flowering trees and the deep blue sky against the white building. The red roof just pops from the sky and your comp and sharp details is amazing as it really brings it to live. As Mary Beth says...just gorgeous #8747991Julianne Bradford July 11, 2010
