EF100, f/2.8, 1/800th Second, -2/3ev, ISO100, RAW, tripod
The final image of four, documenting the various stages of a lotus flower's progress from bud to seed.
I'm preparing a collage of all four images, for upload in September.

Thank you all SO much for the encouragement on this image as well as the series! I didn't plan the shots as a series, but in review at home, I noticed that I had alternating portrait-landscape images that captured these 4 stages, and the idea took hold. #4677240John Caruso August 21, 2007
I just love this whole series. I think it's fantastic the way you've presented them all like this. I particularly like this one for the comp, color, DOF, and detail! #4679769Don Johnson August 21, 2007
Even when you are taking photos of something that is not a flower, you produce a wonderful image. Nice job of producing something many would pass by. #4679796Chris Budny August 21, 2007
Thank you, John & Don! This is cropped from a much wider original comp; I had the seed cup centered against a deep recess of a giant lotus leaf (the green bg you see here) looking sort of like some kind of alien megaphone, or Elizabethan ruffle... But in the end, I much preferred this tight crop, and thanks to that fantastic 100mm lens, the clarity was there. #4680145Melissa G. Meiselman August 13, 2010
