6/25 Flowers
The white and lavender columbine (Aquilegia caerules) became the Colorado state flower in 1891 when Colorado school children voted the Rocky Mountain columbine their favorite flower. When I lived in Colorado I frequently hiked Stanley Canyon, and finally this year (14 years later) I hiked it again with my children and found my favorite columbine field right where it always was.

Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!!! Tripod? #1282198Michael Kroth June 25, 2010
Thanks, Mark. Yes - Tripod and remote release, it really makes a difference. Trying to get the mountain breeze to stop long enough to get the shot - another story, but worth the wait. #8717213Mark S. Cox June 25, 2010
Yes, definitely worth the wait! I would love to see this one printed. #8717219Joannie Bertucci June 26, 2010
Michael, this is just stunning! The contrast of the yellow against the pale blue is so striking! Beautiful composition and sharp details! #8718897Michael Kroth June 26, 2010
