Moms Against West Nile [Contest Finalists July 2004]
Uploaded: July 06, 2004 10:38:55
Digital composition using my son, myself, and PSE2. To get the mosquito I taped some white foamboard under an outdoor lamp and used myself as bait. The mosquito was shot around 11PM using my camera's macro mode with only available light from the lamp (no flash).

I love the title, excellent job and great creativity where did you get the idea? #634736Audrea Telkamp July 06, 2004
Thank you Laurie. A friend of mine called wondering if I could come up with something for an article she was writing about protecting your kids from West Nile Virus. My eldest son said "Why don't you shrink yourself down and be swatting a mosquito on one of us like on our nose or something..." and I went from there. Kids are the creative epicenter of the universe! Philip begged to be the one, insisting he was the best eye-crosser around (he does seem to exhibit quite a bit of talent in this area!). I spend so much time trying to keep 4 boys sprayed down with DEET this summer (our state had a bad year last year with this virus, especially our county). I enjoyed creating this composition because it helps to inject some humor into the situation. #634862Leonard Pierce July 06, 2004
