Thank you Anne and Kip for those nice comments, its very much appreciated. #1011706Michael E. Brodie January 21, 2005
This is great work. The composition is as fluid as the water, but is anchored as firmly as the rocks. The curving lines in the lower right swing toward the horizon which is placed perfectly. It gives visual weight to the foreground and emphasizes the contrast between the solidity of the rocks and the gauze of the time-exposed water. Even the height of the camera is perfect. Any higher and the rocks on the left wouldn't break the horizon line and the connection between foreground and background would have been lost. I think this image would work just as well in B+W. Have you considered making a double print out of it with one in color and the other in black and white? That would give viewers something to think about! Let them fall into your trap when they ask themselves, "Which is better?"PS There were two uncredited pieces of photographic equipment that made this picture possible: a steady platform for the camera and the aesthetic sense of the photographer. #1054702
