Could It Be a Faded Rose From Days Gone By? [Contest Finalists November 2009]
Uploaded: November 21, 2009 05:08:42
Made a quick run to Mill Creek Park yesterday morning to try out my "new" XTi (it's official now, it's MINE!) and was surprised to find a few roses still blooming. Taken with the EF100 f/2.8 macro lens but entered in Flowers. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Beautiful textures and colors here Monnie, love it, well done. #1207735Tammy M. Anderson November 21, 2009
Fantastic details and colors, Monnie. Congrats on the new camera. Thats a great camera. I had that before I brought the XSi. Have fun. #8149874Gord MacEachern November 21, 2009
Yes I think it is Monnie, and captured perfectly!! #8149927Monnie Ryan November 21, 2009
Thanks, y'all! I agree, Tammy -- interestingly, the reason I have the XTi is that Jack got an XSi as an early Christmas present and I inherited the XTi (plus I got a Kindle book reader as my real present, so I'm doubly filled with holiday cheer)! We bought these things early figuring the supply might run short closer to Christmas. Jack tried out his XSi yesterday too and says he's very happy with it, too! #8149939Sam Britt November 21, 2009
Beautiful color, great detail, Monnie. I've had an XTi for about 3 years, I got an XSi last year to carry with it, so I wouldn't have to change lenses. I think the XTi actually produces better images, but I like the larger easy to read LCD & location of controls the XSi. #8150167Laura E. Swan November 21, 2009
I love this DELTA DAWN! Just don't be taking off to any mansions in the sky right away even though this is a heavenly image!!!:)
Great job on this beauty, Monnie!

Beautiful color and detail Monnie. Congrats on the new camera I have the Rebel XT and Im hoping Santa is going to upgrade me to either the XSi or the XTi. I cant make up my mind. Both look like they are winners either way I go from what everyone is saying. #8150350Carol Sawyer November 21, 2009
Beautiful textures, color and details, Monnie!! #8150423Patricia A. Stalter November 21, 2009
Your description could very well be an apt one of me... old, faded and perhaps a bit jaded. :) #8150515Ron McEwan November 21, 2009
Neat close up Monnie excellent detail and dof, along with the texture. Now; what is a XTI? Must be a new toy of some kind. #8150538Monnie Ryan November 21, 2009
Sorry, Ron -- it's a Canon SLR that came out maybe 3 years ago or so. The XSi Jack just got is newer but not the latest incarnation. I think between us we have 6 different Canon cameras, including the 2 SLRs. I just sold our original EOS Digital Rebel SLR, which was the one I used to use with my macro lens before the XTi dropped in my lap. #8150634Ann Myers November 21, 2009

Wonderful capture Monnie!! I have a couple of rose bushes about to bloom again but we've had a pretty warm Fall here so far. I'm torn though on if I should just go ahead and prune them instead of letting them bloom one more time then freeze. HAve a great week!! #8153960Douglas Pignet December 15, 2009
