Jumper?? And you were THAT close??!! Bold and daring you are, Jim! A fantastic maco...Wonderful detail and color...but not knowing a whole lot about spider anatomy, what are the blue things?? #8096552Jim Baines November 04, 2009
Yeah, sometimes I put them in the refrigerator to slow them down. But I didn't have a fridge at Engineer Lake so I faked it! Oh, those little blue thangs are called chelicerae (pronounced kəˈlɪsəri) and are used to grasp food. Think of them as little blue jaws. They also contain venom glands that provide venom through the fangs and into your fang-er, or other body parts. Think of fangs as something that will make you yell, "Ouch" .. frequently accompanied by four-letter words we don't want to mention here. Aren't they cute?Laura E. Swan November 07, 2009
Spooky-dookey man! This has me freaked! And you carry them in the house and put them in the fridge? OM GOSH! My knees are weak. This is just too awful for words. My (dearly beloved) husband chases me around with spiders just to hear me scream bloody murder. Nice hey? He REALLY enjoys this apparently.
These are excellent macros, Jim! Good to visit your gallery today!
