Thanks Aimee! #8034883Aimee C. Eisaman October 15, 2009
Well now that you are asking for critique I would say this needs more room on the top and left. :~) #8039602Sharon October 15, 2009
Amazing detail!! WTG :) #8039615Dale Hardin October 15, 2009
Wonderful capture and colors Jeff. Have no idea how you got this shot unless it is heavily cropped.Suggestions: flip horizontally and apply high pass filtering with hard light blend. #8039756

Outstanding capture of this beautiful dragonfly taken with ultra sharp detail, vibrant color and fantastic composition, Jeff!! #8039785Anthony L. Mancuso October 15, 2009
Excellent detail and color Jeff..really great shot but I agree it could use a litte bit of breathing room as described by Aimee..I find the brown blob to the left of his head to be slightly distracting as well...not sure if this needs the flip Dale mentioned, would have to see it to give an opinion.. #8039958Debbie E. Payne October 15, 2009
He is lovely and you certainly "filled the frame" with him but I also think it needs a bit more breathing space. I have not given any thought as to where I'd want more space. More a "feeling" of close quarters than anything else. The colors are lovely and I'm jealous. I wouldn't even put my several dragonfly images on BP period. Maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to "catch" just one! #8040059Michael Kelly October 15, 2009
Amazing detail and DOF on this one Jeff. Love the color and the POV as well, but do agree that a bit more space would help the shot be even better. Like Tony not sure about a flip or if the exposure or saturation needs any boost from the posted image. #8040249Christie R. Bielss October 15, 2009
Wow Jeff - you really got up close and personal! Not sure if anyone has said anything about needing a bit more breathing room, but think it might be helpful. lol. Not sure about the flip b/c I like the angle he's heading, but would have to see it. The detail and color in this is amazing. Great capture! #8040355Ellen H. Robertson October 15, 2009
Your detail is absolutly amazing!!! Love the colors especially the blues and browns. The tightness on the left does not bother me and would like to see the suggestions. #8040697Jeanine M. Bailey October 15, 2009
I LOVE the details you've captured in this shot!!! The colors and comp really add to this image for me!! #8040814Rita K. Connell October 16, 2009
Wow Jeff this a great shot, I am in agreement that I think it needs more breathing room the detail on his wings is just to cool not to show them more. I also think the brown blob to the left of his head to be slightly distracting. it will be interesting to see the flip not sure it needs it, but dales usually has a good eye for that. great detail jeff #8042910Teresa H. Hunt October 16, 2009
Jeff, beautiful color and detail here. I'll jump on the "needs more breathing room" bandwagon. I'm not sure it needs to be flipped . . . would have to see it. I really like the shot as is . . . except for the breathing room. :) #8043471Susan M. Reynolds October 16, 2009
First of all I agree 100% with the others on the wonderful detail and color...but I'd also have to say too that I think it needs that bit of extra space as well. I don't know if the brown blob others have mentioned could be removed...It makes for a strong photo with great detail.Susan M. Reynolds October 16, 2009
Actually, the first thing I meant to say was congratulations on your EP...my mind is a little loopy from the pain meds again...Kudos! :) #8044069Jeff E Jensen October 17, 2009
Good grief, I head to the mountains for a couple of days and look what happens. . . . :o)Thanks for all of the comments!
This shot has not been cropped, so that is all the breathing room he gets. Sorry. I will look through my files to see if I have any with a little more room.
Susan - This guy was kind enough to sit still for a good 15 minutes. This image was taken at f/10, at 55mm, 1/250 sec exposure.
Dale - I will play with your suggestions a little later. #8046264
