Pelican with Attitude. [Contest Finalists April 2004]
Uploaded: April 10, 2004 14:18:49
Taken while I was strolling along the shores of Lake Macquarie at mid day Easter Saturday. 1/500th at f5.6, ISO64 with a focal length of 13.5mm. If you look at the hook on the end of the beak, it was a case of 'shoot and run'.

Great capture John.. I'd have shot too, then ran! #116210John Connolly April 11, 2004
I must say shooting action shots with a digital camera can be a challenge, you certainly need a large memory card and spare batteries. Thank you Susan, for taking the time to comment. #473972Karen R. Rubeiz May 14, 2004

Thank you Susan, this one was a bit of a surprise. Maybe you can be too critical of your own work. #546024John Connolly October 05, 2007

Thanks Wm! I had a friend who was accidently cut by that beak hook while cleaning fish, the scar on his forearm is over 6 inches long! I give these wonderful birds all the respect they deserve! #8459967Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
