Hi Donna,Also, thanks for pointing out the attributes that really attracted me to this image. I always love warm-vs.-cool color contrast ... and shooting late in the day (just minutes before sunset) enhances all of the colors in the scene.
Incidentally, I purposely moved in nice and tight with my wide-angle lens - while also pointing my camera upward - for a couple of reasons: 1) to emphasize the unique wide-angle perspective; and 2) to place the wheel right against the blue backdrop.
Thanks again, Donna ... I'm pleased that you like this shot!

P.S: Congrats, Donna, on your wonderful Grand Prize winner in the August BetterPhoto contest! #1899982

Hi again Donna,Donna R. Moratelli September 30, 2005
Hi Kerry, I kind of suspected that. I knew that they looked slightly familiar. What a great place for a photo shoot. One day I must return to the west coast and that will be my big excuse!! Thanks and keep up the excellent work and wonderful online classes!! #1903834Patricia A. Cale October 03, 2005
Hi Kerry:Great perspective on this photo. I love the angle, with the wide angle lens, that you chose to shoot this piece of old equipment. It's a great exercise on finding different points of view on familiar subjects.
BTW, you mentioned above "when I was still shooting film". Did you go digital??? I also sent you an e-mail about a week or two back. Did you get it? #1911575

Hi Pat,Yes, I am making the transition to digital - very slowly, but loving it more all of the time! Of course, I know that you and Donna discovered the joys of digital long ago ... so it will take me quite a while to catch up :-)
Thanks so much for the email ... with the Summit and then a vacation to Oregon, I got seriously backed up on emails. But your note was much appreciated - in fact, you should have received my reply a short while ago :-)
Thanks again, Pat!
