Mt. Everest is the highest point on this global village of ours. Mountaineers from around the world dream of standing on its summit. I had the good fortune of meeting Tenzing Norgay, the first to reach the top with Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. (MT)

This is great, Steve!!! I'll bet it was an honor to meet Tenzing Norgay. Especially, if you are a climber. From what I have read, the Sherpas are an amazing people. I hope their livelihood wasn't too impacted by the Chinese closing Everest to climbers for the Olympics!! #6423380Steve M. Harrington September 07, 2008
I was thrilled to meet Tenzing. We chatted for about half an hour. There were all kinds of questions I wanted to ask, but didn't. Instead, we just enjoyed each other's company. He was a charming and humble man.Kimi A. Phillips September 22, 2008
