INNER GLOW
Uploaded: June 11, 2008 23:11:53
As I took this picture I held a small pen light just below the base of the flower to light the interior.

WOW Dale!!! Just beautiful! Great effect and the color and light are outstanding!! What kind of flower is this? Wonderful comp and title too!!! Have a super day!! Laura #940413Tommy E. Burgess June 12, 2008
Very beautiful capture Dale! Great thinking to use the pen light. Very nice. #6050344Sam Britt June 12, 2008
Beautiful floral image, great color & lighting, Dale. Is this a type of tulip? #6051030Sherry McClead June 12, 2008
WOW Dale, this is just exquisite! And I love the extra touch you got with the penlight. Just wonderful.Sherrybear :} #6051289
Aimee C. Eisaman June 12, 2008
This is magical Dale...that pen light gave this such depth! I just love the comp. as well with that other flower in the background. Beautiful! Only suggestion would be to clone or spot heal a small blue looking spot in the background near the other flower. The color just doesn't blend well in this shot and it sticks out for me. #6051329Dale Hardin June 12, 2008
Laura, Tommy, Samantha, Sherry, and Aimee, thanks so much for the kind comments. This is indeed a tulip. My wife buys a vase full of bulbs each year from Costco and I enjoy taking shots as they grow. Have dozens (want to see my little box of pix?)
Aimee, I looked and looked and couldn't find the spot to clone. Maybe a difference in monitor settings.

Could be...my monitor is horrible! LOL! #6052800Tammy L. Newcomb June 12, 2008
Aimee, it has to be your monitor and I was going through the same thing until I upgraded to a 19" flat screen and all I can say is that it was worth every penny.Dale: You executed this photo beautifully...
I love the detail, clarity, and color combination...
Way to go... great job... #6054423

Goodness this is a tulip, it is certainly beautiful the way that you have presented it Dale, the colours are outstanding. The penlight was a brilliant idea, it really gave an inner glow, well done, just exquisite! ~Pat #6054781

Absolutely exquisite Dale. A "frilly" Tulip is a new one to me! And a pen light..(files away in memory for use at an appropriate time... files one in pocket as well LOL) #6055335Dale Hardin June 13, 2008
Aw shucks. Youse guy is going to make me blush. Thanks Tammy, Pat, and Joan for such nice responses.I had never seen this type tulip either before we purchased them but they offered almost unlimited photo ops.
Please try the light trick. I got the idea while trying to shoot through the pedals against the sun. This method really shows off the details of leaves etc as you all know. #6056235

I must mimic Pat in every way. Brilliant idea to use a pen light and what a gorgeous flower you had to work with.I like that we can see yet another flower in the background with the same shape, letting us know these flowers do have uniformity to them as a breed.
10/10 in my book ! -Laura #6058194
