This old woman's life is mirrored in her face, which seems as weathered as the ancient doors behind her in Antigua, Guatemala.

Outstanding portrait Mitch, being from Guatemala I could not love this one more. #5759103Louise Kumpf April 08, 2008
Yes Mitch, this is truly wonderful! I love how the weathered doors echo her wrinkled face (as you've pointed out), but also the contrasting designs of her flowered print dress and striped blanket. The subdued coloring brings all the elements into a marvelous cohesive whole. Great work! #5760562JO ANN CLEVELAND April 08, 2008

Jeana and Nikki, thank you for your congratulations and good wishes. Nikki, you're right. My all-time favorite finalist. Just found the notice and haven't even had time to go check out the rest of them yet and say congrats because all the deck plants were brought in onto the screened in porch so the deck could be water sealed, and new puppy Sammi decided to leap into the very muddy pots, dig like a crazy puppy, and cover herself in goop, and then track it all over the house. One of those days. :) #5943558Marina Moore May 19, 2008
