Orion Dressed in Emerald [Landscapes & Travel]
Uploaded: November 05, 2003 08:26:19
Shot just down the road from my home. The aurora were so pervasive that the whole sky was green, plus there was a little light from the moon combining with it to light up the mountains in green. There are a lot of stars in this photo but Orion stands out quite clearly.

Thank you all for your great comments! Unfortunately it may take a while to get enough good aurora shots to make a calendar. I already missed the two best opportunities and can only hope for a couple more before the winter is over. I only have probably two more photos that are worth showing right now. #258019Karen Seargeant November 06, 2003
What a cool shot, Gary! I can see I have missed alot of your work and will have to browse your gallery to catch up! #259133Gary H. Minish November 06, 2003
Thank you, Karen! If you've been away for awhile you've probably missed a lot of my photos because I enter one pretty much every day :-) #259209Arthur Rosch November 07, 2003

Maybe one of my favorite from the aurora serie, if is possible to chose!!? This is incredible, I have never seen this kind of phenomene, it is terrific!Gary H. Minish November 13, 2003
Art; I am most sincerely honored to receive such a favorable review from the true king of night photography! I also visited your gallery again (it's been awhile) and am very flattered by your generous reference. More importantly I had an opportunity to gaze at some gorgeous astro photography that I had not seen before. Truly awesome and inspiring images!Susana; I'm glad you have enjoyed my Alaskan light shows! It is so sad that there are so many people in the world that have not had the opportunity to witness the aurora borealis in person. It is definitely one of the true wonders of the world. #265818
