A smooth landing [contest finalists march 2008]
Uploaded: March 17, 2008 11:02:12
It was nice to get the bee when it was just about to land, with wings fluttering, on this Calendula. One can even make out the bee's face.
Since the background was a building and a moving bus (!!!), the background work took several hours of cloning in PS. I wanted to retain as much of the natural colors as I could but obfuscate the background elements and this without disturbing the motion of the bee's wings.
F/11, 1/350sec, ISO400, daylight, manual mode, outdoors, hand-held.
Exif: F Number: 11, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 285714/100000000 seconds, Flash: did not fire., White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 70.00 mm, Model: NIKON D70

Thank you Mary, Judi, Kumiko, Amy, Lydia, Mary! for your time and comments. The background work took me several hours so as to retain the natural background but obfuscate it without disturbing the motion of the bee's wings (thanks again, Kumiko).#5683191

Very well captured. It may have really worked still better if were able to caught the natural background. Feels sorry for the distracting background that you have mentioned. #6003142Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
