Thank you Mary, thank you Daniella. I just entered it in the Elements of Design for this month.Nikki McDonald January 03, 2008
Glad to read in the discussion that you apparently did not enter this before Jan 2--my disappointment was great, too, when I thought it had been skipped for an Editors Pick! I'll watch for it to receive one. EOD is an excellent choice, but if that does not work, I would try Travel and Place. #5287540Jean-Pierre Ducondi January 03, 2008
Merci Nikki. I will follow your advice.Bill Brelsford January 04, 2008

Fantastic! Were did you get this persepctive?? Were you in a building in Dumbo or on the bridge itself? We were in Dumbo this morning in for a quick Broolyn trip to our old neighborhood overnight in the Hts (to freeze in a big way!!! 1-20)I was not as lucky with the lighting for buildings on either side of the street, but got my best shot of Manhattan Bridge so far. There's just never enough time or places to park in NYC when visiting!! Good luck with the contest! Lisa #5373158Jean-Pierre Ducondi January 24, 2008

G'day Jean-Pierre,This is a wonderful photograph mate! I suppose it could fall into the "Architectural Abstract" genre in a way.
The soft yet clearly defined vertical cables form a vertical web through which we view the strong steel of the bridge structure and through that the soft lines of the Empire State, all held firmly in place by the strong thick cables to the sides of frame.
Great lighting and exposure, great depth of field and focus and in a way surprisingly softer colours than I would expect.
The contrasts are subtle yet very affective.
Great work!
