Roseate Spoonbills just look totally out of their element when in a heavily branched tree. They appeared handicapped when it comes to trying to
break off branches for nesting material.
This was taken at the St. Augustine Gator Farm.
Which BTW is a different type of shoot from Gatorland. It's much more Flight Friendly if those are the shots your looking for. And OBVIOUSLY Spoonbills NEST THERE.
Exif: F Number: 6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/1250 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 1250, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 170.00 mm, Model: NIKON D90

Excellent capture Jack, just as graceful as Turkeys in trees. #1457275Carolyn M. Fletcher April 18, 2012
Not the picture of grace, is it? Oh well, if it gets the job done, I guess that's all that matters. #10096817Antonio Amen April 18, 2012

Excellent capture Jack.A bird we don't see down here!!! #10097035Debbie Bray April 18, 2012
I reckon they're clumsy - but you rarely see the branches that they stand on break, Jack!! Apparently they're not as heavy as they look. Their bones are as light as chalk, to enable them to fly!!!! #10097036Michelle Alton April 18, 2012
Great capture, among the twigs, Jack--and the description is, of course, wonderful. #10097053Ujjwal Mukherjee April 18, 2012
Even more commendable is the fact that you could focus it perfectly even among the twigs, wonderful capture!! #10097076Lorraine A. Cook April 18, 2012

Nice capture of this cool looking bird, Jack! Bet the branch sagged a little. #10097670John Connolly April 18, 2012
He is so different to our Aussie Spoonbills Jack! A wonderful capture of the moment, although he doesn't look all that comfortable in that position! #10097925Terry Cervi April 18, 2012
I wouldn't want to be perched up in there either. Terrific shot, Jack! #10097930Barbara Waldoch April 18, 2012
