Ghost Train [New Zealand Pictures]
Uploaded: May 19, 2008 13:39:32
My personal favourite. This was taken in Oamaru (New Zealand), which has preserved an old section of the town from the early 1900s and still runs the old steam train every day. I used HDR techniques to modify the tonal range on the image to create this look. The photo was taken with a Canon 400D with an 18mm lens.
Exif: F Number: 3.5, ExposureTime: 100/15999 seconds, ISO: 100, FocalLength: 18.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS Kiss Digital X

Fantastic work Mike. Great POV also. You really captured the spirit of the old train. #5966753Philippe Vieux-Jeanton May 27, 2008

Thank you everyone for your kind comments :)I'm very proud of this photo, particularly as I was so disappointed with the original photo that I took - it is such a beautiful old train but I just couldn't find the right angle or lighting to make it work. I took a lot of tinkering with tone mapping, but the effect from HDR really makes the image come alive!
Take care everyone :)
