Maple in April [Contest Winner Pool May 2007 Man Made Things]
Uploaded: May 24, 2007 11:39:10
04/25/04, Miyazu, Japan. The small Japanese maple in my garden. I have filled cards trying to capture the loveliness of this maple, mostly without success. Haven't been able to figure out why it's so challenging. I think perhaps it's because I try to do macro on it and it's a challenging subject in terms of depth of field. This is one of the few I like enough to put in my gallery. The colour cast is because I took the lower leaves with the sun shining through the upper leaves.

Thanks for the encouragement, Lisa! I entered it in April, but since it's one of my very favourites, I've decided to enter it again. #4324854Colette M. Metcalf May 24, 2007

Thanks for the kind comments Amy. I guess I have to admit that I'm much more a Photoshoper than I am a photographer! #4340998Angela Pound May 29, 2007

Another great image Susan, I believe you did capture the loveliness of this beautiful tree, its one of my favorite trees. #4375399Susan Jane Allen June 07, 2007
Thanks, Wanda. This has become one of my favourite pics. I now have a bird feeder set in this tree and it provides gorgeous background for my bird shots. #4375415Ken Smith June 26, 2007
Way to go, Susan. I had hoped we'd see this one again! #4443712Susan Jane Allen June 28, 2007
Thanks, Ken. It was a re-submit. In the midst of a job and location change, so haven't had a moment to check the finalists page. But I'm sure you made a killing! #4451760Carole Bruckner September 23, 2007
