Gerda, do you know the historical significance, if any, of this bridge? Looks to be the original or close to it. I'm thinking WWII. Do you have any idea? #6028

Hi, Piper,

I wish I did know something about this bridge, but I'm afraid I don't. I'm one of those people who strays away from the places where tour guides are lecturing on the signifigance of sites to take pictures of them. As a result, I tend to end with pictures I often can't identify at titling time. Thank goodness my camera numbers pictures by date! This means I can at least look back at our itinerary and say, "Aha, that picture was taken on the 20th. That was the day we were in Nuremberg!" What really stumps me is the days on which we went to two separate cities! lol

I do remember that the little tour of Nuremberg we were taken on focussed mainly on the city's role in the rise of Nazism and then as the site of the Nuremberg trials. However, we were also shown some areas of the city that dated back to the middle ages. I suspect that my eye just happened to be drawn to this bridge as we were walking from one "important" site to another, and that it was not in itself pointed out to us as significant. My memory is not good, though, and I could well be wrong. -Gerda #8727

Thanks for this info! I also like this shot--forgot to say so above. ~:(
My son is a WWII history buff. When he wakes up (he's 16), I will ask him about this bridge and Nuremburg and let you know what he says.

Thanks! #8728
