Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.This was captured on film (slides), before I converted to digital.
That is a good idea to have her looking at the person. I would have liked it as a comparison shot but, alas, I did not think of that at the time.
However, even though this might make it look more realistic, it would diminish the "punch" of the image. But I see your point... having her looking into the camera causes an reaction in the viewer but may cause too much of a reaction.
It all depends on what the image would be used for. In a standard travel brochure, having her look at her friend who likely be more acceptable. This version, on the other hand, would be better for a more attention-grabbing "wow" advertising campaign.
