Shot on the ice at Koontz lake in Lakewood. Reminded me of a goose "rush hour" on ice--from all the "honking."
Tripod shot at .62 sec, 72mm +1.7 TC, F/7.1, Aperture-priority setting. Slight adjustments in PSP.

Cary, that's a lot of geese; excellent color, detail, clarity, exposure, lighting and DOF. #3710017Sam Britt December 16, 2006
Great shot, Cary. Canada Geese are common where I live, but I've never seen that many at one time. Wow!! #3710155Cary Rogers December 16, 2006
Ken, Kay, Janine, and Sam...thank you all for your responses and comments! For some reason, on this particular afternoon/evening--as the foraging geese were starting to fly back to the lake for the night--the different gaggles all started crowding together in one small area on the ice. This picture doesn't show all of them that eventually bunched up together there. Thanks again! :-) #3710210Manuel Barrera December 16, 2006

Thank you Candice! In winter, one of things I love is the sights and sounds near sundown, when all the gaggles start flying-in to the lake from all directions. #3711578Pat Gamwell December 19, 2006

Thanks for stopping by my gallery and commenting on this photo, John. I usually don't think to take a tripod with me, but luckily I had one when I took this telephoto shot; because of the nice reflections on the melted ice, and the low camera angle, the pano crop worked really well.
