Lifeguard Tower Ho'okipa Beach Maui HI
Uploaded: February 03, 2012 21:04:27
This beach is known as possibly the best place in the world for windsurfing. It is the site of two major world-class competitions. Due to the strong surf, windsurfing at this beach should be limited to the experts.
---
This week the swells were 25 feet or higher. The power of the water was purely evident. Despite the danger, two kite surfers and a jet skier were out on the swells. They kept disappearing from view and were too far out to photograph.
“Crazy” comes to mind.

Lifeguards were called into action the morning we were there to rescue a watercraft operator who had become separated from a tow-in surfer. All were safe and sound thanks to the rescue lifeguards. #1441138Tiia Vissak February 04, 2012

Oh, no, not for me. On the other hand, this lifeguard station looks pretty posh for the job. Not a bad afternoon's guard duty at all. #9964901Debbie Bray February 04, 2012
Is this the same beach they hold the World Championship Surfboarding? It's absolutely dangerous, and as you say, CRAZY to be out there! I wouldn't even be a lifeguard there! Lovely capture, Heather, and I like all the diagonals happening on the building! (I think it's crying out for a closeup there, ;-) )John Connolly February 04, 2012

Nice capture Heather. I remember when I was there some of the lifeguard stations that I saw you wouldn't mind converting into a studio apartment and just watch time pass you by looking out onto the beautiful beaches and crystal blue waters. #9967266Nancy L. Green February 06, 2012
