Mule Train [Backpacking Pictures and Hiking Pictures ]
Uploaded: June 24, 2011 03:14:37
These tourists are taking the 12 mile mule ride to the famous Phantom Ranch. This has to be booked very far in advance. Taken on the Bright Angel trail at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We were hiking on this trail when this was taken. The hikers always take the inside to let the mules pass.

Hi Tammy,When John Wesley Powell expedition was exploring the Grand Canyon. One of hardest thing to find was drinkable water. They couldn't drink the water from the Colorado river,it was not clean and unsafe. As matter fact they called the Colorado River the Dirty Devil. When they got to the point of what we call the south rim today they found a beautiful clear creek that they could drink from.John Wesley Powell stated it,it was like seeing a Beautiful Bright Angel. And that is why we call it the Bright Angel my friend!!!! #9482664Marijana Fajgl June 24, 2011
