Description

...of the rock. For all people out there complaining about the bad weather. There's lots of things to see and photograph. Fresh out of the camera, drizzling, 2+ celsius (+ cold fingers) afternoon, PS adjustments.

Cool shot birdie. You put us all to shame--but make sure those fingers don't get too cold! #12186

Excellent composition, Birdie. you sure have a knack for turning common unassuming subjects into bold and striking statements! I'm watching closely...and learning! #20814

Birdie, you are an inspiration, for sure. It's been raining here for two weeks and I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself while your out shooting excellent images! #20844

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments.
We have a lot of these big granite rocks in our woods. They are the rest of an enormous mountain which geologists think was higher than Everest. What's left is an altitude of approx. 600 to 1000 meters around here - unbelieveable, I know, but true.
Wind, rain ... weather in general have formed these rocks - there's a special name in geology: "Woolsack".
They are wonderful to photograph - they don't move! :-)) So even in bad weather with wind and rain - with a tripod and a little luck they are very cooperative. I'll attach one more to give you an impression.
Regards to all!

Love this second image Gary. Those rocks are huge. Do they have moses and lichens (sp?) growing on them? Looks like a neat place to explore! #20850

I mean moss. That was the word I knew how to spell! #20853

Carol: Thanks for your feedback. There's lots of moss and different lichen species on the rocks, you can find some fern species also. I plan to do a survey of the most mystical of them, best in winter with just a touch of snow on them. They have always impressed me in their stillness and old age.
Regards
