A sunset cast a warm yellow spotlight on this mountain. The little piece of rainbow was a bonus.

Gary, this shot just blew me away! Totally exquisite, perfect shot of the whole scene. The town below with lights coming on as darkness came, clouds breaking 'on' the mountain top, the rainbow PLUS Sunset Gold....WOW O' WOW! Definitely a winning shot.Have a ton of questions but will only ask a few, if you don't mind.lol
What mountain is this, how far away were you and what kind of camera did you use? =:) #16256

Paul, Linda and Carol;Thank you very much for the more than generous comments!
To answer your questions, Carol, the mountain is smaller than it looks in the photo. If Better Photo allowed higher resolution files you would be able to see the details better. The mountain is one of many small but rugged mountains that surround Valdez, Alaska. It's only 4900 ft high and there's no city below it. The setting sun was lighting up the vegetation at the foot of the mountain and reflecting off the river that runs in the gravel flats. I was only 2 miles away and shot it with my SONY DSC-F707. I think you would really like the high res version! #16291
