Astounding image Kartik. Great light (how much, if any, editing was involved) and fab composure. I really like this, well done! #154000

Thank you for the encouraging comments. The light was definitely very fortuitous, and did not last long. There were storm clouds closing in rapidly around sunset, and I was lucky to be in the right position to capture the sunlight hitting one of the buttes. I removed the slight bluish tinge of the sky using Photoshop to enhance the reds in the landscape, and did some selective burning/dodging to reduce "white noise" in the image. #683025

Kartik: This is a gorgeous image. I have done a lot of photography in the American Southwest, but have never made a photo that is anywhere near as impressive as this one.

Well seen and executed. Congratulations.

Cheers!

The Mittens(1 in Utah, the other in Arizona) near the Navajo trading post are ancient volcanos centers where the exteriors have eroded away(must have had much more rain than the Navajos get now). If you haven't spent much time there, you really got God's gift for weather & you captured it. Pixers prowl the Southwest hoping for such weather. Your pic is one of the best I've seen. #784830
