Best film for portraits?

I would like some input on good film to use for portraits. Pictures will be taken outside and inside.
Thank you
William

Film is very much a personal choice. While I use transparency (slide) films for nearly everything, portraits are one of the occasions for using professional negative (print) films. Most are designed for portrait and wedding work. Cost isn't much higher than a premium consumer color negative film:

Kodak:
Portra 160NC
Portra 400NC
Portra 160VC
Portra 400VC
(the NC has more restrained saturation than VC)

Fuji:
NPS 160
NPH 400

Agfa:
Portrait 160
