Hmmm, does this site have an archive? I've seen this question about 100 times. ASA & ISO are organizations that set standards. ASA stands for American Standards Association and ISO stands for International Standards Organization. In regards to film the ASA number is the old designation for the speed of the film. Film speeds these days are all ISO numbers. Both systems use the same numbering. Film speed refers to the sensitivity of the film to light. The higher the ISO number the more sensitive the film. More sensitive films are said to be faster films.
