What is a Diopter? Hello! I've seen this everywhere and I still don't really understand what it is. What is Diopter and how does it affect your image? I've messed with the dial a little bit on a Nikon and it just seemed to focus the viewfinder image but this doesn't do anything to the final image does it? What's the importance of adjusting diopters? Thanks!

A diopter is basically an eyeglass on your viewfinder. Just adjust it until the black lines in your viewfinder are in their sharpest focus. It has no effect on the image itself.

This Is A Correction For Your Eyes As to What Your Seeing In The View Finder Its Like Glasses, If Your Using Manual Focus This Could Very Well Affect Your Image (Out Of Focus)I Just Let My Camera Auto Focus On A Scene (Use a Tripod)After You Do This Adjust Your Diopter Until Everything Is At Its Sharpest In The View Finder (Just Like The Eye Doctor Does When He Fits You For Glasses)!!It Doesent Have An Effect On Your Image Itself Like Kerry Said If Your Using Auto Focus, But What Your Viewing Through The Viewfinder Wont Be As Sharp As It Could Be To Your Eyes If It Was Adjusted Improperly!
