Camera for Pilot I just got into the Air Force and I will be a pilot in a couple of years and will be flying around the world and seeing a lot of interesting places. I would like to get a camera that can capture those places for my family and friends to see. I don't plan on spending more then $400, but I want to get a camera that I can work to take great picture the way I want them to look.

I applaud your foresight! I'm a retired Navy pilot and traveled to 32 countries in 24 years and regret not having the right equipment with me to record my experiences. I had a Canon AE1 with a 50mm lens, no flash, no tripod. (I now own a Nikon F100, a 28-80mm, and an 80-200mm, SB28 Flash, tripod, and 2 camera bags). My suggestion is to do your research and choose a camera that feels good in your hands, and one that you can build upon that fits your budget. Next, buy yourself a subscription to one of the popular photo magazines that gives tips on photography. Also checkout the Exploring Photography section in this site. Ask friends who have cameras to explain the features. The more you research the more satisfied you'll be with your decision. - theportraitbarn@aol.com
