Printing Digital Pfrom Photoshop 6.0

Using a Nikon SuperCoolScan 2000 to scan negatives and Photoshop 6.0 with the Epson 2000P photoprinter, when printed out the colors seem unsaturated with a cyan or greenish hue. The photo doesn't seem to match the image on the monitor which looks accurate. I'm using Adobe 98 RGB as color source. On the printer settings I'm using custom settings and need to slide saturation level all the to the right about 20 to match the image. Any suggestions to get better output to match the original photo on this printer.

  Hi Bert,

My experience is mostly on handling digital files, either from scanners or direct from digital cameras.

I have very good experience with Epson photo printers. However, controlling the output to what you see on monitor is a trying exercise!

The problem is that the color space offered by Adobe and the color space printed by the printer is different. I suggest you try switching Photoshop to just RGB output (I assume you are not saving into postscript) and let the printer driver do the rest. Any attempt to manipulate the printing with its system is time consuming and unaccurate.

If you are really keen to have color consist output with what you see on monior, you need to calibrate your scanner, monitor and printer. An example of such a device is Color Open from Heidelberg.

Regards, Nicolas CPT
