Lightroom VS Photoshop Lately more and more photographers I know(some professional) are using Lightroom. I have always used Photoshop but am interested in using Lightroom or at least experimenting with it. How many of my fellow BP members prefer Lightroom and why or visa versa? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I would say try LR. I love it. Of course you should watch as many educational video and tutorials as possible with patients. I know I have spent much more on education for LR then what it cost for LR.

I use both LR and PS and wouldn't want to be without either one. LR is a terrific 'digital asset management system'(Library). I use the Develop module (basically camera raw) for 95% of my processing and will take an image over to Photoshop if it needs touch-up work that LR can't handle (LR's only weakness as far as I'm concerned). I also highly recommend the Nik/Google products such as Viveza, Color Efex, and Silver Efex. And, last but not least, if you do focus stacking Helicon is hard to beat.

Thanks, Mark. This is pretty much what I have begun doing. I have not used Helicon a whole lot but need to give it another try. Again, thanks for taking the time to share. Harriet

I love LR. Like Mark, I like PS for retouch. The writers of LR have spawned a cottage industry of books to tell us how to use LR. I was lost until I got both LR developer Scott Kelby's Lightroom for Digital Photographers and Sylvia Bampton's Lightroom, the Missing FAQ's. I'm 67 and I find nothing computer-related to be intuitive. You might fare better - try Scott Kelby's book first.

Thanks, Doug. I have been using Lightroom more and more and do like it. Like others, I go to PS for detailed touch ups. Thanks again. Harriet Feagin
