I need your opinion I am thinking about buying a new camera and found the best deal on the model I want at Cameta Camera in New York. I have never ordered from them and I was wondering if any of you have and if they are a good company to do business with. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you try to Google them? You might find something that way about bad experiences others have had.

I took Carolyn's advice and found this link that had reviews on Cameta: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/CametaCamera I have no idea how reputable the "resellerratings.com" site is, but the folks that reviewed Cameta had nice things to say about Cameta.

Hi Dayna, I have never dealt with Cameta Camera, but the advice you've gotten from Carolyn and Ken is very sound. I have, however, purchased camera gear from B&H in New York (www.bhphotovideo.com), and they've always given great service and good prices. They've been around for a very long time. I might check them out as well as Cameta.

Like Lynne, I've never dealt with Cameta and it sounds like good advice given to check them out first before you buy....but like Lynne also, I can't tell you how many cameras and accessories I've purchased over the years from B&H and in every case I've found them to be honest, honorable and highly concerned with customer satisfaction. Good people to deal with!

B&H is really great, I agree. I have heard that when you deal with some of the other companies, to find out ahead of time if everything is included and what the shipping costs are. I have heard that some don't include stuff like a battery/charger and stuff like that. Can't confirm it first hand, but have read that online.

I'm glad other people have had good dealings with B&H over the years. They do have a good, long-standing reputation!

I have used b&h a lot as well as Adorama. I bought a refurbished camera from Cameta and had a positive experience.

Thanks for all of your input. I too have bought from B&H Photo as well as Adorama and both are great. I did some research and can't really find anything negative about Cameta other than some complaints about a shipment being a day late but I did find negative things about B&H Photo (that just proves that you can't please everybody). All three places have the model of camera and lens I want but Cameta offers the extras like an extra battery, remote, cleaning kit, free shipping, etc all for the same price as B&H and Adorama. Their return policy is pretty much the same as the other two company's. I may just have to give them a try. Thanks to all of you for your help.

Always a good idea to check Better Business Bureau ratings as well - Cameta has an A+ rating (New York) so combined with the other research you did I wouldn't hesitate to try it.
