Troubleshooting Shutter lens Question: I recently inherited my dad's old Richon camera. It has a telephoto lense which will come in handy when taking shots of my son at his baseball and football games. However, in my attempt to "learn" and get familiar w/ the camera I began to notice that the shutter is getting "stuck". It's not until I turn the lense (as if I'm going to remove the lense and attach another lense) does the shutter complete the snapshot. What causes this? I took a test roll of film to see what kind of effects this will have on my shots - I don't expect much - I'm thinking that this the "incompletness" of the shot will only cause "blank" shots. Can someone help? I've taken a look at the camera and the lense equipment - it doesn't appear to be damaged anywhere or have any alterations that may be preventing it from completing the shot.

The lens aperture mechanism (and/or the camera shutter) is sticking, probably due to dried out or gummed up lubrication. Not unexpected in what is probably 30+ year old gear. It'll need a professional clean and lube to free things up. I don't recognize the "Richon" brand name. If it is Ricoh or Chinon, then you can probably a manual for it posted at http://www.butkus.org/chinon/.

Thank you very much! Actually you had the name right it is a Ricoh and that website helped a bit. Since I'm new to the "photography" world - does anyone know an estimated cost of a camera cleaning?
