Are Digital SLR Lenses and 35 Lenses Compatible? Does Canon's Digital Rebel work with lenses from any of Canon's 35mm cameras? Visa versa? Thanks!!

Every Canon EF (EOS autofocus) lens ever made will mount and work with the Digital Rebel. EOS lenses from third-party manufacturers should work, but sometimes they don't backward-engineer the electronic communication exactly right, so there may be cases of older lenses from Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc., that give an "Err 99" message on the Digital Rebel. The Digital Rebel mount is unique in that it allows use of the new EF-S 18-55 lens that is available in a kit with the Digital Rebel. This EF-S lens cannot be mounted on any other EOS camera.

Jon, Does the 17-85 IS zoom, EF-S work with the Rebel. Or is it only the XT and higher? Mine works with my 30D. John

The EF-S mount was introduced with the original Digital Rebel/300D. It has been on each APS-C size DSLR since - 20D, Rebel XT/350D, 30D, and Rebel XTi/400D.
