Carbon tripod and salt water?

What's the deal with carbon fiber tripods and salt water exposure? I am considering a Boger 3443 but keep hearing warnings about carbon fiber and salt water. I shoot a lot at beaches in summer and my tripods need to get their feet in the ocean occasionally. Any suggestions or comments?

I don't think it's the carbon fiber, it's the magnesium hardware on the 3443 that corrodes quickly when exposed to salt water.

Thanks Jon, That's understandable. Any suggestions as to a tripod that might not be affected? I would prefer carbon for the weight savings but I'd hate to ruin one at the beach.
