what is the procedure to get warranty with nikon D hi, myself pradeep subramanian,working in a passenger ship.last week I bought one nikon D80 from one store in napoli,italy.after two days I have a problem with the equipment.it is showing "ERROR" and I cannot reset it.i tried with changing lenses,modes and different apertures.still the same problem exissts.it looks like some internal problem.i show this to the shop keeper and he told me that he cannot give me a new camera,because there is mark on the bottom(caus I used tripod).and I have to wait 15-30days.if anyone can advice me what can I do to solve this problem.

well, do you have a years warrenty on your camera. It's absolutely customary to have at least a year warrenty that comes with the camera from the manufacturer. If you just bought it last week you may have 14 days to return it. so just return it if you can. otherwise take it back where you got it and get them to send it to nikon to get worked on for free. if they won't then get the number fro nikon and call them directly and they will tell you what to do and where to send it to get worked on. After all of that and you get your camera back then you can buy a seperate 3 year warrenty for your camera or get insurance on it in case something else happens to it. some of the things I had to do for mine. hope this helps.

Actually P.S. the warranty for a Nikon camera purchased in Italy may be quite different from the warranty for a Nikon camera purchased in the U.S. Italian warranties may fall under the gray market categories. Two things you can try. First, take it back to the dealer you bought it from, assuming it was a Nikon dealer, and ask them to either show you how to fix this problem or exchange it for one that doesn't have the problem. Or, contact Nikon service in the USA directly and tell them the problem and where you're located. I'm sure they'll give you some place to get it straightened out. Pradeep, you have changed everything, but you didn't mention that you changed the media card. Perhaps the card is not firmly seated or is defective. By the way, the images in your gallery are very nice. John

thanks a lot for your nice comment.i am already changed the card .but still have the same problem.also I given camera for repairing,and after one month they were doing nothing.because of I am leaving napoli,italy,i brought back my camera with out repairing.now the problem is that they opened the camera for repairing and asking me for 20 more days.i was little bit affraid of the shop where I buy this camera,because that shop have a bad reputation about the customer service.some of my friends lost camera and dvd'players. I write mail to nikon europe and nikon global.but I didn't get any reply .now I want to reapair the camera.i will be in europe untill end of july.now I am really confused that where can I give this camera for repairing.i paid 1350 euros for this camera and only used 2 days.i am looking for some advice from our fellow photographers .once again thanks a lot for your valuable advices and comment.
