Wireless Shutter Remote

Hello everyone. I am just getting started in photography and might I say OH MY GOODNESS! There is sooo much to learn. I am going to be taking alot of fast action shots. I want to set up a wireless shutter remote, but I am having problems finding the setting on my camera. I have a Nikon D200. Can someone please help me. Thanks for helping the new girl on the block.

Are you using Nikon's ML-3 remote control set?

Hmmm. Don't know then. I don't have the ML-3 user manual. There's nothing in the D200 manual other than specifying that accessory. I assume you'd just slide the receiver into the hot-shoe and plug its cord into the D200's 10-pin socket and the remote would actuate the camera. Maybe check the reciever and sender units have fresh batteries?

Just to re-verify, because the model numbers are similar: You're using the 2-piece ML-3 that has a receiver plugged into the camera, and a controller with shutter button and 3 control switches. There is a simple ML-L3 remote with just the shutter button that is usable on the D80 and lower models, but not the D200 and higher models. (see LINK).

That is the problem. It is the ml-l3 model. I will have to return it. Thanks for your help.
