Connection problems

Any help I can get would be appreciated. Got Canon D30 secondhand. Great camera and I'm really enjoying taking pictures. Now I've been trying to hook it to my computer for few days to get my pics off. I keep getting an usb device not recognized error. I've downloaded and installed the software from Canon, but it's still not working. Should I try and find the original disk or what other options can I try? I'd really like to get my pics before I have to format my card and start over. Somebody help! Thanks

Darlene, first Im not an expert, why dont you go on the Canon sight and see if there are any new drives etc for your camera, or at the same time see in the chat if anyone else has had that problem. I would start here first, but then if you have the original disc try that, if not why not send canon an email, explain your problem, (dont tell them it is 2nd hand) and let them give you some suggestions.

Found a better one. Read some dialog Wed. nite. This person says, "junk the chunky cord & buy a card reader. Found one on sale. Installed software, plugged it in and I"ve been happy ever since! Thanks for the response. I love this site!
