Sync cord delimma

Hey, my friend has a Minolta film camera and last night we were trying to hook up my sync cord that I use with my Rebel and strobe. there is not a place on her camera and my hotshoe adapter would also not fit on her camera. we don't seem to be able to get the strobe to flash properly by slaving it off her flash. Any suggestions. Is there a adapter or sync cord that could be used to hook her camera up to my light?

  Dear Michelle:
Which Minolta model does your friend have?
I ask because the late model Minolta's have a uniquely syled shoe that limits compatibility. Also, which flash are you using with the Rebel?

She has the Dimage. We found out that she had to order an adapter for her hotshoe. I am using the b400 strobe inside and the 580ex speedlight outside. So far I am not proficient with either but it's fun trying to figure it all out.

  Dear Michelle:
The adapter she ordered- does it provide a PC socket? Or does it convert the camera hotshoe to a more conventional style hotshoe?
The (built-in?) flash on the Dimage may not trigger the slave switch on the B400 if the two are not within line-of-sight. Imagine, for example, if the B400 is off to your left, and you turn the camera 90 degrees to the right to take a vertical composition photo. The built-in flash may be blocked from line-of-sight to the slave swith on the B400 by the camera body. Food for thought...
