Photography Question

Katie

What is a good portrait/wedding lens?

I currently have a minolta but will eventually be purchasing a 35mm Canon. I am looking for a lens that would be interchangable between the two and one that would be excellent for portrait and wedding photography. At this point in time the lens would be more beneficial and I can't afford the camera and the lens at this time. I would really appreciate any feedback! Thanks, Katie

Minolta Maxxum (or manual focus MD) lenses cannot be mounted on Canon EOS EF (or manual focus FD) mount, and vice versa.

What Minolta camera do you have and why do you want to switch to Canon?

  Check out http://members.aol.com/olympusom/lenstests/default.htm
and scroll down to the test on a Minolta MD Rokkor-X (metal body)f1.7 50mm lens. Unlike most lenses, it is distortion free, with state of the art resolution and contrast characteristics. This lens on a Minolta X-700 with the PX360 flash mounted on the Power Grip II will give the absolute best 35mm possible.

If you are dissatisfied with your work, Canon is no answer. It's only another 35mm camera. Consider going to medium format, 6cm x 4.5, 6 x 6 or 6 x 7. Pros use medium format for professional work, because the negative is a lot bigger, making your prints sharper.
