close up photos


can yoou help-i just got a 105mm marco lens with a f2.8 for some close up work.
what I would like to know?
i want to take some photos with the background out of focus,and the main subject clear.
can you give me some good setting to use to get this type of effect.

  Use a small aperature setting (f-stop), and focus on the main subject.

  Correction...I meant to say a small aperature NUMBER..which would be a wide f-stop setting.
