Diffusion Panel out of PVC piping

I've read on here several times people have made diffusion panels out of PVC piping and I'm trying to figure out how to do this on my own. Me being not very creative and not much of of a home improvement guru- have no idea how to go about making one of these on my own. How thick does the piping need to be? How tall did you make it and how did you support it? I have an design idea in my head but don't know how to reproduce it in my home. I want to make it adjustable in height if possible. Any suggestions or photos people can show me of how they did theirs? Thanks!

Julie

Dosen't have to be too thick. The half inch is a good size. It's measured by inside diameter. You have to go to a hardware store and get the sides cut in the length you want them to be. If you want it square, get something like 4 tubes cut to 3 feet each. Then get elbow joints that will fit the size of the pipe.
For the diffusing material you can use nylon, which can be bought at wal mart in the fabric section real cheap. One way to fit it over the frame is to sew some elastic in the corners, much like a fitted bed sheet. Or you could use some kind of clips to keep it on.
To make it adjustable, off the top of my head I'd say you might have to just get some smaller lengths cut so you can change the dimensions of the frame. I guess you could also use some T-joints and try sliding one side up and down. But it may not slide very well, and that way of doing it might be too much of a hassle.

Thanks Gregory! Just one question though. HOw did you support the diffusion panel to get it to stand up the way you wanted it to?

I used a clamp made by bogen and a tripod. A bogen clamp has thread holes that are the same size as the threads that are on the bottom of a camera for a tripod screw. But I'm sure you could also use one or two C-clamps from any hardware store.
But I did have to glue a couple of the elbow joints to the pipes because one side would torque and it was hard to get it to stand straight up and down.
But if you wanted to make it free standing, I supposed you could get a section of the bigger sized pvc and cut it into two half cylinders, like U U. And either glue or drill some screw holes and try to make some feet for it.
