American Bittern
The American Bittern is a species of wading bird in the heron family. Because of it's coloration it is very hard to pick out in the reeds along the shore line. Someone yelled Bittern on the shore. It took me about four minutes of searching the shore line with my 400mm lens to find it. Bitterns winter in Arizona. Photo: _7508295aas.jpg
