Big Pine Air Show
An unusual sight greeted me as I crested a low hill in the alkaline desert of the Owens Valley, CA. There were large flocks of birds swirling in the sky above the river and a small reservoir that was just off the road. It turned out the birds were white pelicans that had migrated inland for the breeding season. I spent about half an hour with my 300 mm lens on my crop-sensor Canon EOS 50D pointed straight up.
